Airlie Gardens should be on anyone’s list of the best wedding venues in Wilmington wedding venues. More than just a historic Wilmington wedding venue, Airlie Gardens is a place for gathering. While it was started as a private garden, Airlie Garden’s scenic grounds have drawn guests seeking a romantic oasis and place for lavish celebrations. Offering a variety of options for your ceremony, including the shaded area beneath a 500-year-old oak tree, it serves as an ideal location for a modern garden party inspired wedding.
Imagine the chairs above filled with guests in pastels, holding parasols, and sipping champagne- it would literally be a Pinterest wedding board come to life! And while your guests are mingling and soaking up the beauty of the massive gardens during cocktail hour, you and your partner can steal away some sweet moments together, taking in the magic of being newlyweds. Couples can book an event at the gardens starting at $250 per hour, depending on the day of the week and hours needed. Plus, if you’re on the fence on whether its the wedding venue for you- why not take your engagement photos there or at one of my other suggested Wilmington engagement photo locations!
The Oak Lawn– Centered around the 500 year old Oak tree that Airlie Gardens is known for, The Oak lawn is my personal favorite spot for ceremonies. As you stand beneath the sprawling branches adorned with delicate Spanish moss, you can’t help but feel a sense of wonder and romance wash over you- making you feel like you just stepped into the set of The Notebook.
The Minnie Evans Bottle Chapel – This chapel is a dream come true for couples who crave a burst of color, a touch of creativity, and a backdrop that’s truly one-of-a-kind for their ceremony. With its vibrant atmosphere and playful design, this chapel is the perfect place to say “I do” in style. As you exchange vows surrounded by bursts of color and innovative design elements, you’ll feel like you’re stepping into a work of art. It’s all about celebrating your love in a space that’s as unique and unforgettable as the two of you!
The Pergola Garden- Airlie Gardens proudly boasts that this charming spot is their most sought-after location for ceremonies, and it’s not hard to understand why it’s so beloved! The Pergola offers an enchanting escape that transports you far from the hustle and bustle of Wilmington, whisking you away to the serene gardens of a European castle.
Picture this: as you step into the Pergola, you’re greeted by a breathtaking scene straight out of a fairytale. The air is filled with the sweet scent of seasonal blooms, and the natural archway overhead frames the moment perfectly. The soothing sounds of a fountain provide a harmonious backdrop as you and your partner exchange heartfelt vows, surrounded by the beauty of nature.
What truly sets this venue apart is its secluded ambiance. With towering trees all around and lush foliage at every turn, it feels like you’ve stumbled upon a hidden garden sanctuary. It’s a place where time seems to stand still, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the magic of the moment and create memories that will last a lifetime.
The best time of year for an Airlie Gardens Wedding:
Airlie Gardens welcomes bookings from March to October. Given that it’s primarily an outdoor venue, aside from the reception tents, choosing the right time to tie the knot largely hinges on your desired weather conditions. If you’re dreaming of saying “I do” amidst the vibrant blooms and lush greenery that Airlie Gardens is renowned for, without the sweltering heat and humidity typical of coastal weddings, then April, May, and September are your best bets.
